Aba Toraab

The pious scholar Abu Mohammad Hasan bin Husain bin Babeweyh narrated for me in Ray in the year five hundred and ten, from his uncle Abu Jaafar Mohammad bin Hasan, from his father Hasan bin Husain, from the blessed scholar AbiJaafar Mohammad bin Ali bin Babeweyh, from Ahmad bin Hasan bin Qattan Al-Adl, from Abul Abbas Ahmad bin Yahya bin Zakariyya Al-Qattan, from Bakr bin Abdullah bin Habib, from Tamim bin Bahlool, from his father, from AbulHasan Al-Abdi, from Sulaymaan bin Mahran, from Abayah bin Rab’ee, who said:

I asked Abdullah bin Abbas, “Why did the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) give Ali bin AbiTaleb (a.s.) the name, ‘ABA TORAAB’ (Father of Dust)?”

Abdullah bin Abbas replied:

Because Ali (a.s.) is the owner of earth and he is Allah’s (s.w.t.) decisive argument after the Prophets. It is through him that the earth stays stable.

I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) say, ‘On the Day of Judgement, when KAFERS (disbelievers) see the rewards, the honour, and the status that Allah (s.w.t.) has prepared for the Shia of Ali they will say to themselves, ‘Woe to me, Would thatI were dust!’ (78:40).

(Explanation :This verse means that the Kafer will wish that he was from amongst the Shia of Ali.

(Ref :Elal Al-Sharae’ 1:156).
